Family Legacy Films

Some stories only exist in memory. We put them on film.

Your grandparents have stories nobody has written down. Your parents remember things your kids will never hear if you don't act. We capture those stories properly. So they last.

The stories don't disappear all at once. They fade a little every year.

Right now they live in one person's memory. Details are already dropping away. The names. The way they told it.

You've got clips on your phone from birthdays and holidays. Shaky video of cake. None of it holds the stories.
You've said "we should record Grandma" at a dozen family dinners. Everyone agrees. Nobody books anything.
You're counting on next summer. Or the next reunion. Some stories have already slipped away while you waited.
There isn't always more time.

Three ways to tell your story.

The Gift

The gift nobody thinks to give.

Every Legacy Film arrives in an engraved wooden gift box, with the film on archival USB. Watch it together the day you give it. Watch it again in fifty years.

How It Works

You don't need to know anything about filmmaking.

You just need to know whose story it is. We handle the rest, start to finish.

01
The Conversation
It starts with a relaxed call or a visit. No cameras. We learn who they are, what matters to them, and what you want remembered. By the end you'll know exactly what the film will involve and what it will cost.
02
The Archive
We collect the old photos, tapes, and home videos, then digitize everything into a private virtual archive. Nothing gets lost or damaged. All of it becomes material for the edit, and all of it is yours to keep.
03
The Filming Day
We come to them. Home, the cabin, the old neighbourhood. There's no script and nothing to rehearse. We ask questions, they tell stories, and within minutes most people forget the camera is there.
04
The Edit
We weave the interviews together with the archive and find the story inside it all. You see a cut before anything is final. If something is missing, we keep working until it feels true.
05
The Film
Delivered digitally and in an engraved gift box on archival USB. Watch it together the night you get it. Then put it somewhere safe for the next generation.
At every step, you'll know exactly what happens next.
Testimonials

Don't take our word for it

“Something Real for My Family”

I wanted to share my story with my grandkids. Something they could return to. The film turned out so beautifully, I’m already planning the next ones for my dad and my friends.

“It Felt Like Us”

We didn’t just want wedding photos. We wanted our story told. Every frame felt personal and captured who we really are.

“Now It’s a Tradition”

Our Tofino vacation film has become something we rewatch every year. The piece about my brother fishing is something I’ll treasure forever.

“Decades in One Film”

You took all our old tapes, photos, and home videos and turned them into a beautiful family film. We watch it together every year and it’s become a part of us.

“More Than My Story”

You helped me honour my ancestors and share our immigration story in a way that moved my whole family. Now it’s part of our community’s legacy too.

Every family has a story keeper. In yours, it's you.

The families who come to us all have one person who saves the photos and asks the questions at dinner. The one who's been quietly worrying about the stories for years. If that's you, we should talk.

Questions families ask before they book

What does it cost?+

Legacy Films start at $7,500. The final price depends on the format, the number of people, and how much archival material we're working with. You'll have an exact quote after the first call.

How long is the filming day?+

The Legacy Session is a half day. The Time Capsule is filmed over several days, usually across a few visits. The Heirloom is ongoing, and we plan each visit around your family's pace.

Where do you film?+

Wherever the stories live. Usually at home. Sometimes a family cabin, a garden, or an old neighbourhood. We're based in Vancouver and will travel.

What if my family member is shy or uncomfortable on camera?+

Almost everyone is at first. There's no script and nothing to perform. We have a conversation, and the camera fades into the background within minutes. The shyest people often give us the best films.

What format is the final film delivered in?+

Digitally, in full quality, plus an archival copy in a bespoke USB gift box. You own the film outright.

Is this only for elderly family members?+

No. We film new parents, milestone birthdays, and whole family reunions. If the story is worth keeping, age has nothing to do with it.
